On behalf of the Biosafety Division of UCLA Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and the UCLA Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), we are pleased to present the UCLA Institutional Biosafety Plan. The Plan details expectations for the use, storage and transfer of biological materials in alignment with Federal and State regulations and guidelines in support of UCLA’s goal to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, environmental incidents and/or property loss and damage.

The UCLA IBC approved the recommendations and requirements detailed in the Plan with the expectation that updates will be necessary as changes in regulations, policies and procedures dictate.

As a biological materials user, you are encouraged to review the attached Plan, which will go into effect January 1, 2018. An electronic version is also available. We welcome comments, questions and feedback about the Plan and look forward to discussing ways we may work together to meet these campus requirements.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention and assistance in meeting these requirements.

Sincerely,

Samson Chow, IBC Chair
Colin Dimock, Assistant Vice Chancellor – EH&S
