The ARC recently updated the policy, Treatment and Use of Animals under Expired Protocols (formerly: Treatment and Use of Animals under Expired or Suspended Protocols), to remove information about care of animals during protocol suspension, as such cases are handled individually. The updated policy is available at http://ora.research.ucla.edu/OARO/Pages/ARC-policies/expired-protocols.aspx.

The ARC also recently reviewed, but did not modify, the policy, Toe-clipping for Animal Identification. This policy is available at http://ora.research.ucla.edu/OARO/Pages/ARC-policies/toe-clipping.aspx.

We encourage investigators to review both policies with their research teams to ensure understanding of the responsibilities and authorities set forth by the ARC.

Please visit the Office of Animal Research Oversight (OARO) website and review these policies at your earliest convenience. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 310-206-6308 or oaro@research.ucla.edu if you have any questions.
