As you know, UCLA uses the nationally recognized Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program to train animal users on regulatory guidelines and individual responsibilities. We are pleased to share two announcements about CITI:

  1. Effective January 11, 2018, CITI will integrate with UCLA Single Sign-On (SSO), allowing users to access CITI through their UCLA Logon credentials. Upon your first login after the SSO integration, if your UID is not already automatically linked, it is important that you match any existing CITI accounts with your UCLA SSO account. Details about how to link your existing account or how to create a new linked account are available here:
  2. In 2017, we announced the requirement that new personnel intending to work with mammals other than mice and rats complete the relevant CITI course prior to participating in species-specific training through DLAM.

Effective January 15, 2018, new personnel will be required to complete mouse, rat, and aseptic training modules through CITI prior to receiving hands-on training. For those who receive hands-on training through DLAM, a copy of the CITI completion certificate must be brought to the in-person training.

To access CITI species-specific courses, login to the CITI website and navigate to the bottom of your Main Menu. Under your course list, you will see the header, “My Learner Tools for University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).” Click Add a Course, then answer the questions on the following page (note: some questions require an answer) and click Submit. Your Main Menu will now include the new course(s) and will display the status and completion record.

The ARC believes that the online CITI courses will provide valuable information to new animal users. Please provide feedback on these courses to arc@research.ucla.edu.
