We have scheduled more RATS 2.0 training sessions for the month of September. If you have not already attended, we invite you to register for a basic and/or advanced training session to learn how to use RATS 2.0. Basic training provides an introduction to RATS 2.0, covering navigation and terminology. Advanced training is limited to those who have already attended a basic session; attendees will receive tips for completing their protocol smartform. Please contact RATSHelp@research.ucla.edu to register for an upcoming session:

Date Time
Tuesday, September 8 (basic) 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Friday, September 11 (advanced) 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 15 (basic) 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Friday, September 18 (advanced) 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Monday, September 21 (basic) 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 24 (advanced) 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming training; meanwhile, here’s a QUICK TIP regarding standard substance administration TEMPLATE procedures:

We have recently added the below standard substance administration template procedures to the Standard Library:

Name Species Procedure Type
TEMPLATE: Intravenous (IV) Tail Vein Injection Mouse Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Intravenous (IV) Tail Vein Injection Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Subcutaneous (SC) Injection Mouse Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Subcutaneous (SC) Injection Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Intraperitoneal (IP) Injection Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Intraperitoneal (IP) Injection Mouse Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Intramuscular (IM) Injection Mouse Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Intramuscular (IM) Injection Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Oral Gavage Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Oral Gavage Mouse Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Retro-orbital Injection Rat Substance Administration
TEMPLATE: Retro-orbital Injection Mouse Substance Administration

To use these procedures on your protocols, you will first need to create a copy of the standard template procedure. To create a copy, click on the procedure you want to copy; this will take you to the procedure workspace. In the procedure workspace, click on the “Copy Procedure” button to create your team copy (see screenshot below). In your team copy, you will add the team and/or standard substances that will be administered via that specific route of administration (e.g., SC injection).

You can also add the standard template procedures directly to your experiments; however, with this approach, you will need to create a separate team substance administration procedure that contains all the substance(s) you will be using in your experiments.

We encourage you to take advantage of the standard templates when building your team’s procedure library.
